Abstract

Two Moons was a chief of the northern Cheyenne tribes, renowned for his level head and easygoing demeanor in addition to his role as a warrior fighting to save his people’s territorial rights from the advance of the United States. In 1876 he was one of the major figures rallying the Cheyenne to fight at the famous Battle of the Little Bighorn River, where General George Armstrong Custer met his fate in the worst defeat the U.S. Army ever took in battle on the continent of North America.
