Abstract

The Industrial Age fundamentally changed societies, shifting the majority of work from agriculture to manufacturing. Inventions such as the light bulb, telephone, and gas-powered automobile meant that companies could not only operate more hours per day, but also communicate with other businesses and customers across different locations, and distribute goods much faster. Machines became increasingly integrated in manufacturing, and technology became integral to the development and growth of business organizations.
