This letter is one of several from Bishop Daniel of Winchester in England to Saint Boniface, missionary to the southern Germanic tribes. It is an exemplar piece of the Anglo-Saxon mission and serves to underscore the right approach to evangelization. In doing so, it sets the stage for future Christian missionary work among the Slavs and Scandinavian peoples.
