Abstract

Drawing on earlier church pronouncements, scripture, moral law, and natural law, Pope Paul VI makes clear in the encyclical Humanae Vitae the opposition of the Catholic Church to what it considers artificial methods of birth control. He examines the issue of sexuality and procreation in the context of heterosexual married love.
