Abstract

Well known as the author of The Call of the Wild, The Sea Wolf, and other adventure novels that drew upon such personal experiences as prospecting during the Klondike Gold Rush of the late 1890s, Jack London also achieved fame as a journalist covering such events as the Russo- Japanese War in 1904 and the devastating San Francisco earthquake two years later, which he described in dramatic detail.
