Abstract

The Treaty of Lausanne is a peace treaty signed in 1923 at Lausanne, Switzerland, between Turkey and the British Empire, France, Italy, Japan, Greece, Romania, and the Serb-Croat-Slovene State. It was the final treaty that brought World War I (1914–1918) to a close. The Treaty of Lausanne was based on respect for the independence and sovereignty of the states on both sides and reestablished friendly relations among them.
