Abstract

Public Law 117-58, commonly called the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), was signed into law on November 15, 2021, by President Joe Biden. The total funding was approximately $1.2 trillion, including about $550 billion in new federal investment. It is a large, multi-part law that combines surface transportation reauthorization, expanded investment tools and grant programs, major broadband and digital equity initiatives, water and wastewater funding, energy grid reliability and resilience measures, environmental remediation efforts, and several “other authorizations,” plus a full division providing FY2022 appropriations for implementation.
