Abstract

In the summer of 1932, the plight of the Bonus Army and its treatment at the hands of the U.S. military became one of the most powerful symbols of the Great Depression. It represented both the growing distress of the American people and the ineffectiveness of the administration of Herbert Hoover to deal with this unprecedented economic collapse.
