Treaty of Versailles
Overview
Abstract

The Treaty of Versailles was the peace treaty signed between the defeated Germany and the Allied and Associated Powers, most prominently Britain, France, Italy, and the United States, at the conclusion of World War I. The treaty was presented to Germany’s representatives for review on May 7, 1919, and signed on June 28, 1919. The Treaty of Versailles was highly detailed, with more than four hundred articles and annexes that dealt in small part with the establishment of the League of Nations and in large part with the punishment of Germany.
