On July 14, 2008, after a detailed investigation, the U.S. House of Representatives issued its Report on the Death of Pat Tillman, a U.S. Army Ranger corporal killed in Afghanistan on April 22, 2004. Tillman’s death attracted considerable attention because he had been a player in the National Football League but elected to join the military during the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan in the wake of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.
