Abstract

In the late fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, a new, more centralized and less feudal form of European monarchy appeared. These monarchies are often referred to as “national” monarchies. This nationalizing process took different forms and occurred at different paces in different countries and in some places did not happen at all.
