Abstract

This flyer, written by African American citizens in Montgomery, Alabama, and presented to the Montgomery city council in March 1955, outlines the basic rights that Black citizens were being denied. The document illustrates some of the living conditions that led to the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which began later that year, and is one of the many documents illustrating that African Americans knew what rights they should have and were demanding that these rights be granted and upheld.
