William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, a preeminent historian, sociologist, and civil rights activist, was influential in exposing how Blacks were treated in America. Many scholars have credited the work of Du Bois as being groundbreaking for combining extensive research with data analysis, thus providing an accurate view of the economic, political, and social status of Blacks.
