Abstract
Hoyt Fuller was an activist who helped establish the Black intellectual community in the United States during the 1960s and 1970s by illustrating the importance of Black artists in art and literature. He believed that for racial oppression to end, discrimination needed to be addressed not only in such areas as employment and housing but also in the fine arts. He believed that African and African American culture could play an important role in ending racial oppression and discrimination.
