This document is an example of a mass media photograph, commonly used in the twentieth and twentyfirst centuries. The first photograph to have a human in it was “Boulevard du Temple” by Louis Daguerre, taken in 1838 in Paris. By the twentieth century, the use of news-related photography was commonplace and helped to influence public opinion worldwide on numerous occasions, including throughout both world wars, when images shocked the world by bringing the reality of those events to the forefront of people’s daily lives.
