This political image is an example of American iconography that was intended to convey a specific political message and is comparable to the iconic image of the “Hope” poster created by Shepard Fairey for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential election campaign. This image was a part of a larger collection of images aimed at promoting unity following a very divisive election campaign in 2016. The posters were displayed throughout Washington, D.C., on inauguration day and published as advertisements in the Washington Post and other newspapers.
