Catherine Sawbridge Macaulay Graham (1731– 1791) was a prominent British historian and political thinker noted especially for her eight-volume History of England (1763–83). She was an avowed liberal, and her support for radical ideas led her to support both the American and French revolutions. Her views also contributed to her friendship with many of America’s founders, including Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Benjamin Rush, and John and Abigail Adams.
