Abstract

On September 8, 1787, Katteuha and three other Cherokee women sent a letter to Benjamin Franklin, the governor of Pennsylvania at the time and a delegate to the Constitutional Convention. Their letter asked him to consider the negotiation of a peace treaty between the Cherokee and the new American nation.
