Abstract
Economist Paul S. Taylor, in his book An American- Mexican Frontier: Nueces County, Texas (1934), examines the strategies used by Mexican Americans in the 1920s and 1930s to combat discrimination. Taylor begins by illustrating that many Mexican Americans thought of themselves as Mexicans rather than Americans.
