Abstract

Following the entry of the United States into World War II in 1941, there were widespread but unfounded concerns that fascist and communist groups were actively working to undermine the war effort of the country. In 1941, the California legislature created a committee to investigate what were termed “un-American activities” by different organizations. Its 1943 report described some of its findings of active fascist and communist groups in the state.
