Abstract

The report on immigration excerpted here was released by the U.S. government in June 1931, at the height of the Great Depression. Although the report gives interesting statistics on the movement of Mexican Americans into and out of the United States, it is just as interesting for what it does not say. At least half the story lies in the context of the document.
