Abstract

Understand the origins, the key events, and the historical consequences of the American Revolution; understand the American Revolution as an “application” of Enlightenment ideals. In looking at “revolution” as a world historical phenomenon between 1775 and 1825, compare and contrast the differences in revolutionary aspirations (and their execution) of English colonials, Spanish colonials, and French “national” subjects.
