Abstract

Understand the origins, the motives, the operations, and the historical consequences of New Imperialism (1870–1913) in the context of modern power. New Imperialism (1870–1914) is often called the “third wave” of modern imperialism (that is, from 1500 forward). Identify the earlier two periods and compare and contrast them with New Imperialism. Explain the political, economic, social, and cultural differences between the various waves.
