Abstract

Culture: the common way of life of a particular people in contact with a particular natural environment. Culture comprises the common folkways and work ways of a people responding to the possibilities of their common environment. At its center, this common way of life rests on a common cult (worship). This cult involves a vision of ideas and values that shape the entire culture. Culture is a material and spiritual unity passed on generation after generation through enculturation (a specific type of which is formal education).
