Abstract

Caste system: In Vedic India the Aryans were divided into four social classes (varnas) warriors, priests (Brahmins), merchants, and laborers. These classes provided the basis for the Hindu caste system that solidified during the first millennium CE. Everyone was held to be born into a particular station in life with its appropriate rights and duties.
