Abstract

The primary sources of our knowledge of the life and teaching of Jesus of Nazareth are the four Gospels, which are part of the New Testament canon. The few non-Christian sources that mention Jesus within a century after his death (e.g., Josephus, Pliny the Younger, and Tacitus) add practically nothing to our knowledge of Jesus’ teaching but confirm the historicity of the founder of Christianity.
