Abstract
From the time of its origin in Judea during the first half of the first century, Christianity was a mission-oriented religion with a strong eschatological message. Jesus Christ is portrayed in the Gospels dispatching his disciples on mission trips all over Palestine, commanding them to seek as many converts as possible, for the end of the world was imminent.
