Abstract
Unit 7, World War II and the Home Front, concluded by introducing post-war tensions that set the United States and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR or the “Soviet Union”) on a path that changed the course of history. The ideological divide between the two nations—the United States promoting capitalism and democracy and the Soviet Union supporting communism—desned one of the most tense periods in world history.
