Abstract

This unit looked at the Women’s Movement, as well as other minority groups seeking access to full civil rights, and highlighted a full range of issues. Women focused national attention on a host of issues. As Betty Friedan argued in The Feminine Mystique, although many women had healthy families and signiscant material goods, not all of them were satissed with their role as the happy homemaker and having their lives desned by their roles as a wife and/or mother.
